The 2018 Lake Michigan hurricane season was an active season.

This season is saw a record amount of activity and ACE level.

There was a record breaking 21 storms that formed over Lake Michigan, rather than the more usual 5 to 10.

Over 10 hurricanes, which would usually be 1 to 4. And a modest amount of Major hurricanes, which only 1+ (if at all) or none usually form.

And an ACE Value of up to 130.

Meaning Lake Michigan nearly saw 2005 Atlantic hurricane season type activity.

ACE is the result of a storm's winds multiplied by how long it lasted for, so storms or subtropical storms (Originally not included up until 2012) that at lasted a long time , as well as particularly strong hurricanes , have higher ACE totals. Tropical Depressions are not included in season total.
